A New Year, New Beginnings — and an Unforgettable Alaska Adventure Ahead
As we step into this new year, I invite you to pause—just for a moment—and remember that time is one of our most precious gifts. Don’t let it slip by unnoticed.
I’m reminded of the words from The Lord’s Prayer: “Give us this day or daily bread.” Not yesterday’s regrets or tomorrow’s worries—Just today. This is the year to be intentional with our time and present in our days. Not rushing ahead. Not looking back. Just being here. Take time to love deeply, laugh often, and continue to learn. Enjoy your best life—both on and off the bench.
Don’t let 2026 happen to us—let’s happen to it. Be present in the everyday moments. Feel the warmth of the sun and the quiet beauty of the snow. Smell the flowers and the rain. Greet one another with intention—whether through a hug, or a handshake. Smile not only with your mouth, but with your eyes. Move through this year with a heart filled with gratitude, choosing connection, joy, and purpose along the way. These are not resolutions – they are a commitment to be resolute.
The new year also brings exciting opportunities to reconnect with one another—and one of those opportunities is just around the corner.
We are especially excited about our Alaska Cruise Midyear Meeting, taking place May 16–24, aboard the Holland America Nieuw Amsterdam—a luxury vessel designed for comfort, reflection, and connection. We will sail the breathtaking Inside Passage, beginning in Vancouver, British Columbia, and concluding in Whittier, Alaska, surrounded by glaciers, fjords, and some of the most awe-inspiring scenery in the world.
Along the way, we will enjoy memorable stops in Juneau, Alaska’s state capital, as well as Ketchikan and Skagway, each offering rich history, natural beauty, and opportunities for exploration. Against this remarkable backdrop, we have curated an outstanding Midyear program filled with engaging education, meaningful dialogue, and the fellowship that makes our community so special.
Important reminder: To take advantage of our discounted block of cabins, you must register no later than January 17. Space is limited, and these cabins will fill quickly.
Let this be the year you say yes—to renewal, to presence, and to experiences that inspire. I cannot wait to welcome you aboard for what promises to be an extraordinary Midyear together and host you in the state I have called home for 50 years.
With gratitude and anticipation,
The Honorable Pamela Scott Washington
