Washington State Supreme Court’s Gender and Justice Commission (GJC), co-chaired by NAWJ members Justice Sheryl Gordon McCloud and former District 13 Director Judge Marilyn Paja, issued its 2017-2019 report, Promoting Gender Equality in the Justice System.  The Commission partners with members of NAWJ District 13 on many projects.

The GJC is proud of its work to improve diversity on the bench, to assist in diversity pipelines for minority teen girls to consider the law as a career, and to support women law students. The report includes the work of Washington’s annual Success Inside and Out multi-day re-entry conferences at Mission Creek Corrections Center women’s prison, and the Gender Bias Study’s (endorsed early on by the NAWJ Board) progress toward a research-based report is showcased.
