Commissioner Pennie K. McLaughlin of the San Diego Superior Court, was the recipient of two separate awards in September. First, Commissioner McLaughlin was selected as the 2020 recipient of the Alba Witkin Humanitarian Award from the California Judges Association. This award is given to one judicial officer annually in the State of California to honor humanitarian work and for working to make the world a better place. Commissioner McLaughlin donated the $1,000 stipend to the NAWJ.
In addition, Commissioner McLaughlin was honored by the San Diego County Bar Association and received the 2020 Service Award for working in the community to help others. During her acceptance speech, Commissioner McLaughlin highlighted the NAWJ and the incredible group of local members that work together on several projects.
