NAWJ Leadership Issues Statement Condemning Violence Against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders

On March 19, 2021 the following statement was issued by the leadership of NAWJ in response to a rise in violance agains Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.

The National Association of Women Judges (NAWJ) strongly condemns the rise in violence against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI). The attacks and incidents of racism, which have been on the rise since March 2020, threaten the collective public safety of all AAPIs. We denounce racism and any actions taken to harm someone because of their race or place of origin.
 
NAWJ was founded upon a principle of equal justice for all and has led the American judiciary in achieving fairness and equality for vulnerable populations. We reaffirm and emphasize our mission of promoting the judicial role in protecting the rights of individuals.
