WASHINGTON, DC: The National Association of Women Judges (“NAWJ”) is thrilled by President Biden’s nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the United States Supreme Court. We extend our heartiest congratulations to her on her nomination.  If confirmed, she will not only be the first black woman Justice on the Supreme Court but the sixth woman and third black Justice to have served on the Court when she steps into the shoes of Justice Stephen Breyer for whom she clerked.  NAWJ was formed in 1979 to promote the judicial role of protecting the rights of individuals under the rule of law through strong, committed diverse leadership; fairness and equality in the courts; and equal access to justice. Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson is a shining example of a Judge who exemplifies all that we have achieved since our formation.
