VISIONARY WOMEN SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The National Association of Women Judges District Six is pleased to announce the

VISIONARY WOMEN: CHAMPIONS OF PERSEVERANCE, PERSISTENCE AND PROGRESS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

A $750 scholarship will be awarded to applicants who have demonstrated a commitment to advancing diversity, the achievement of gender equality, and academic success. One (1) scholarship per law school will be awarded to an applicant currently matriculating at the:

Louisiana State University - Paul M. Hebert Law Center (LSU)

Loyola Law School,

Southern University Law Center (SULC), and

Tulane University Law School.  

 

At least four (4) scholarships will be awarded. The scholarships will be presented on Friday, March 22, 2019 during the Awards & Recognition dinner in Shreveport, LA, hosted by NAWJ District 6 Director, Judge Sheva Sims.

Scholarship recipients will receive a complimentary awards dinner ticket and must be present to receive the award. 

Preference will be given to applicants who are student members of the NAWJ. Prior recipients of NAWJ District 6 scholarships are ineligible.

    • What qualities, talents, passions and/or background experience do you bring to advance diversity in the legal profession and the achievement of gender equality?
    • Have you overcome any obstacles in pursuit of higher education?
    • What efforts would you make to advance diversity, achieve gender equality, and/or promote equal access and opportunity in the justice system, if you served as a judge?
    • What steps would you take as a current or future member of the NAWJ to advance its mission?
