The Pandemic - What Is Its Impact on Our Civil Courts

The pandemic has had a tremendous impact on civil courtrooms.  Judges face a huge backlog of cases not easily addressed when jury trials won’t be feasible for some time.

Where do we go from here?  How do we balance the need to keep court staff, judges, attorneys, litigants, etc. safe, on the one hand, and provide a forum in which disputes can be heard and resolved, on the other hand?

How can technology be implemented and used to achieve the goals of keeping people safe in courthouses and providing a forum for resolution of disputes?

This webinar features three outstanding jurists from Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Miami who are confronting these issues and are prepared to provide innovative solutions.

Opening Remarks:
Hon. Bernadette D'Souza, Judge, Orleans Parish Civil District Court, Louisiana
NAWJ President
