Serving the Needs of the Community Through the Courts: "A National Perspective"

This webinar will feature state trial court judges from various areas in the country who preside or have presided over problem solving courts, including, restorative justice community courts, veteran's courts, recovery courts, and drug treatment courts and a registered legal services attorney who will discuss the role of the pro bono legal community in providing free or low-cost legal services to civil matters. The panelists will describe the operation of their courts, the impact the court processes have upon the community, and the assessment and effectiveness of these courts.

Learning objectives:

  • Learn the basic principles and values of Problem-Solving Courts, including, the framework for the operation of Restorative Justice courts, Veteran's Courts, Recovery Courts, and Drug Treatment Courts.
  • Learn best practices for the operation of a problem-solving court in the community with judges and justice partners.
  • Learn about models for serving the needs of the community through the courts.
