Bridging the Justice Gap in a Pandemic
In the wake of the global pandemic, courts across the country are working hard to ensure that citizens have equal access to justice. Join Chief Justice Bernette Johnson, Chief Justice Debra Stephens and Justice Lucy Billings as they discuss the specific programs in their states that are targeting access to justice for their constituents. You’ll also have an opportunity to learn how justice stakeholders are preparing judges for the onslaught of cases and how alternatives are being developed to avoid a justice crisis. Judge Lisa Walsh will be moderating this esteemed panel and will be asking questions specifically about legal challenges that affect the essentials of life; assisting unrepresented; providing assistance of counsel; serving litigants and witness; and much more.
Opening Remarks:
Hon. Bernadette D'Souza, Judge, Orleans Parish Civil District Court, Louisiana
