- The Neuroscience of Addiction, by Dr. J. Grisel (Bucknell University)
This event is provided, gratis, by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), in cooperation with the NAWJ (https://www.nawj.org/ ), thanks to financial support from the Dana Foundation. The event will include presentations by the experts and interactive elements to address judges’ questions and cement learning objectives.
Numerous court cases involve persons accused of, or involved in, offenses related to addiction or violence. Moreover, the ability of witnesses to recall facts is often a question in civil, as well as criminal, litigation. Neuroscience has also provided insights that have influenced the Supreme Court’s view of whether / when youth ought to be tried or punished as adults. In short, the nexus between science and law is of increasing importance and this webinar aims to enhance courts’ understanding of neuroscience for the administration of justice.
