District Director, 13 (AK, HI, ID, MT, OR, WA)

Hon. Bride Seifert

Bride Seifert is a Superior Court Judge in beautiful Homer, Alaska. As the only judge in Homer, Judge Seifert covers every case type that comes through the door: felonies, misdemeanors, Child in Need of Aid cases, civil disputes, small claims, evictions, name changes, domestic relations, and probate cases. Prior to her appointment, Judge Seifert held a variety of positions in state government. Just before taking the bench, Judge Seifert worked as a prosecutor in rural Alaska, serving the communities of Bethel and Kotzebue. Before that, she spent over four years as a state administrative law judge, hearing over 30 different types of agency appeals and conducting many successful mediations.  Judge Seifert also served as an assistant attorney general, advising the Department of Health and Social Services’ licensing divisions. She moved to Alaska for a one-year clerkship with the Juneau Superior Court, and has called Alaska home ever since.

Judge Seifert attended The Ohio State University.  After graduation, she worked in tourism in Colorado and Alaska.  She returned to Ohio to manage Cleveland’s first single parent homeownership program.  Judge Seifert then worked in Antarctica, Alaska, and Greenland as an operations and logistics coordinator.  She graduated magna cum laude from William Mitchell College of Law, which she attended part-time while owning and operating an eco-friendly cleaning company. After law school, she served as the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce’s Energy Policy Manager.

Judge Seifert believes that many cases are best resolved through mediation and therapeutic alternatives to the standard adversarial court process.  Judge Seifert also strongly supports a bench that reflects the diversity of those it serves. She is a proud member of the NAWJ and is honored to serve as District 13’s Director. Judge Seifert belongs to the Alaska, Juneau and American Bar Associations. She has volunteered with the Early Resolution Project, the Alaska State Libraries, Archives, and Museums, Juneau Mountain Rescue, and National Ski Patrol. She and her husband enjoy playing in the great outdoors.
